Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

1.1 Who we are

TrendToReel is operated by [your legal name or company], [address], who is responsible for your personal data under this policy. You can reach us at [contact email].

1.2 What we store about you

• Your account: name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password itself.
• Keys and connections you add: API keys for AI and media providers, and access tokens for the social accounts you connect. These are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and used only to act on your behalf.
• What you create: trend items, ideas and their scores, scripts, the source articles and facts they were written from, voiceover audio, thumbnails, videos, captions, and your settings and prompts.
• Publishing and performance: what you published, where and when, and the statistics we read back for your own posts (views, likes, comments, watch time).
• Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and server logs and error reports, which can include your IP address and browser type, used to keep the service running and secure.

We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics, and we don't sell or rent your data.

1.3 Public content we read

To find trends, the service reads public signals from sources such as Google Trends, Reddit, Product Hunt, Hacker News, and news feeds. To write a script, it fetches the public article or page behind a trend and keeps its text with the script, so the facts can be checked and quoted accurately. This is public content; it is not data about you.

1.4 How we use your data

Only to provide the service to you: running your research, writing and producing your videos, publishing where you ask, and showing you how they performed. Performance statistics for your own posts are summarised by an AI provider into suggestions that shape your future ideas. We use your email address to send account messages such as password resets. We don't use your content to train AI models.

1.5 Services we share data with

The service works by calling other providers. Each receives only what its task needs and is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. Providers used with your own key receive data under your account with them.

• AI text: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter (your choice), which receive idea details, source article text, and scripts to write and plan your videos.
• Voice and timing: OpenAI, which receives script text to produce the voiceover, and the voiceover audio to time captions word by word.
• Stock footage and photos: Pexels and Wikimedia Commons, which receive short search phrases only, never personal data.
• Publishing and analytics: YouTube/Google, and TikTok, Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads) where available, which receive the video and its title and description when you publish, and return your post's statistics.
• Email: Resend, which receives your email address to deliver account messages.
• Operations: our hosting provider [hosting provider], and Sentry for error reports when enabled.

1.6 Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is open. You can disconnect a social account or delete an API key at any time in Settings, which deletes the stored credential immediately. To delete your account and everything in it, email [contact email] from your account's address; we delete it within 30 days, apart from anything we must keep by law. Published videos stay on the platforms you posted them to until you remove them there.

1.7 Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how it's processed. Email [contact email] and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

1.8 Security

Credentials are encrypted at rest, passwords are hashed, and connections use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we'll tell you without undue delay.

1.9 Children

TrendToReel is not for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

2.1 Agreement

By creating an account or using TrendToReel, you agree to these terms. You must be at least 16 and able to enter a binding agreement. If you use it for an organisation, you agree on its behalf.

2.2 The service

TrendToReel researches trends, writes scripts from their sources, produces voiceover and video with AI, and publishes to accounts you connect. It is in beta: features may change, and some publishing platforms become available only after that platform approves the app.

2.3 Your account, keys, and costs

Keep your password safe; you're responsible for activity on your account. Some features run on API keys you provide. Charges from those providers under your keys are yours to pay, and you must follow their terms.

2.4 You review before publishing

Videos are generated by AI and can contain mistakes: a wrong number, an outdated claim, or a misleading summary. Nothing is published until you choose to publish it, and you are responsible for checking a video, its script, and its sources before you do. You are the publisher of what you post.

2.5 Acceptable use

Don't use TrendToReel to create or publish content that is illegal, deceptive, defamatory, hateful, or harassing; that impersonates a person or organisation; that spreads misinformation, including about elections or health; or that infringes someone else's rights. Follow the rules of every platform you publish to, including their policies on spam, automation, and AI-generated content labels.

2.6 Sources and third-party media

Scripts summarise public articles and name their source. Short quotes are taken word for word and attributed. You are responsible for making sure your use of source material is lawful where you publish.

Videos may include stock footage from Pexels, used under the Pexels License, and photos from Wikimedia Commons under their stated licenses (public domain, CC0, or CC BY). Keep the on-screen photo credits and the Pexels credit in descriptions. Don't use footage or photos to suggest a real person endorses anything, don't portray identifiable people in a misleading or offensive way, and don't redistribute the media on its own.

2.7 Your content

You own the videos and other content you create with TrendToReel, subject to the rights of third parties in any source material or media they include. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to provide the service to you.

2.8 Suspension and ending

You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or others at risk, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

2.9 No warranty

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, including that AI output is accurate or that any publish attempt will succeed.

2.10 Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or actions a platform takes against your account because of what you published. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or [amount] if you paid nothing. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

2.11 Changes and governing law

We may update these terms as the service changes and will notify you of material changes before they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of [country or state], and disputes go to its courts, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
